Syngonium 'Ice Frost'

  • A unique cultivar within the Syngonium genus, known for its distinct foliage texture and coloration. It is a tropical climbing or trailing plant (an Aroid). Features big, thick leaves that have a frosty, almost iridescent sheen to them, giving the appearance of being coated in a light layer of ice or frost. The leaves are generally thicker than other Syngonium varieties.

The Syngonium macrophyllum species is native to tropical regions of Central and South America.

Syngoniums produce the characteristic Aroid flower (spathe and spadix), but they rarely flower indoors, as the foliage is the main ornamental feature.

  • Prefers bright, indirect light. Adequate light is important to maintain the plant's distinctive coloring and compact growth. Avoid direct, intense sun which can damage the leaves.

Keep soil consistently moist but avoid overwatering. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

Requires a rich, well-aerated, and fast-draining potting mix (e.g., standard potting mix amended with perlite and orchid bark).

Thrives in warm indoor temperatures, ideally between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Protect from cold windows and drafts.

This plant should be fertilized once per month during spring, summer and fall with diluted houseplant fertilizer.

Toxic if ingested (due to calcium oxalate crystals). Handle with care, especially around pets and children.
  • Suitable for outdoor growth in USDA Zones 10-12 (otherwise grown as a houseplant).
