Cereus Cuddly Cactus

  • The Cuddly Cactus is a popular cultivated variety of the Cereus jamacaru species, prized for its chunky, architectural, columnar shape and distinctive, almost spineless nature, making it safe to touch. Its stems often feature 4 to 6 pronounced, wavy ribs, giving it a sculptural look. The parent species, Cereus jamacaru (Mandacaru cactus), is native to the arid regions of Central and Eastern Brazil, thriving in its dry, semi-arid habitats.

Its most distinguishing feature is the absence of sharp spines, which is where it gets its affectionate common name, the 'Cuddly Cactus.' Unlike its wild counterpart, this variety has only soft, hair-like fluff or very minimal, short bristles in place of the typical sharp thorns, making it a safer and easier-to-handle choice for homes with children or pets.

When provided with optimal light, water, and warmth, it can exhibit relatively fast growth, putting out several inches of new growth in a growing season.

  •  Full Sun to Bright, Indirect Light.

    Well-Draining Cactus/Succulent Mix.

Prefers warm temperatures between 65°F and 90°F (18°C - 32°C) during the growing season.

  • USDA zone from 9 to 11
