Senecio amaniensis

  • Amani Senecio (Senecio amaniensis) is a strong, upright succulent with thick stems and smooth grey-green leaves. The leaves have a clean, glossy surface and can develop bright pink to purple edges when exposed to strong sunlight or light drought stress. The deep green tones mixed with colorful margins give the plant a bold, dramatic look.
In the growing season, it can send up a tall flower stalk topped with a bright orange, paintbrush-like bloom. In nature it can grow quite tall, but in pots it stays more compact. It grows best in bright light with well-draining soil and infrequent watering. It is easy to propagate from stem cuttings, which root quickly and help shape the plant.

  •  Bright Indoor Light, Filtered / Partial Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.

Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
