Sempervivum 'Pompeon'
-
Sempervivum ‘Pompeon’ is a strong, well-shaped rosette with olive green leaves that can turn vibrant red in bright sunlight. Fine cilia line the edges of each leaf, giving the plant a soft, slightly frosted look. When grown in full sun, it forms a tight rosette packed with many leaves, showing its best color and structure.
This variety grows mainly in spring and summer and produces offsets that form a neat cluster over time. A mature rosette may also send up a flower stalk during the growing season. Like other Sempervivum, it is very cold hardy and thrives outdoors in full sun with gritty, well-draining soil. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
