Sempervivum 'Pixie'
-
Sempervivum ‘Pixie’ (Nixon) is a cute, small S. arachnoideum cultivar with tiny green rosettes lightly covered in fine webbing. The leaf edges can blush soft pink to red in bright sunlight, adding gentle color to its delicate form. Its compact size and webbed texture make it especially charming in rock gardens and small spaces.
This variety produces many offsets that quickly form a tight cluster and can cascade beautifully between rocks. It grows mainly in spring and summer and may send up a flower stalk once mature. Like other Sempervivum, it is very cold hardy and thrives outdoors in full sun with gritty, well-draining soil. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
