Sempervivum ‘Kramer's Spinrad’
-
Sempervivum ‘Kramer's Spinrad’ forms a tight, compact rosette of wide leaves in shades of green and deep red. The center is covered with thick white webbing, giving it a soft, cottony look. In bright sunlight, the red tones become richer and more intense, creating strong contrast against the pale webbing.
This variety produces many round, cotton ball-like offsets that quickly form a dense cluster. It grows mainly in spring and summer and may send up a flower stalk once mature. Like other webbed types, it prefers excellent drainage and protection from heavy rain, especially in winter. It is very cold hardy and thrives outdoors in full sun. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
