Sempervivum heuffelii 'Saffarina'
-
Sempervivum heuffelii ‘Saffarina’ forms a rich, compact rosette in deep chocolate burgundy tones with a fresh apple green center. The thick leaves are trimmed with long, soft cilia that give the plant a delicate, textured look. Its colors stay vibrant throughout the seasons, with cooler weather bringing out deeper red and burgundy shades.
Sempervivum heuffelii come from the mountainous regions of Europe and are known for their excellent cold hardiness and drought tolerance. These plants grow happily outdoors year round and multiply by dividing at the center, slowly forming tidy clusters of new rosettes. After several years, a mature rosette may bloom and fade, while its offsets continue to grow and keep the plant going. ‘Saffarina’ is a rare cultivar and is typically available in limited quantities.

Full sun to partial sun
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 50%-70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
