Sempervivum heuffelii 'Perfection'
-
Sempervivum heuffelii ‘Perfection’ (Hoekstra) forms a sweet, well balanced rosette in soft blue green tones through most of the year. In colder winter weather, the leaf tips take on a gentle lavender blush, adding a subtle seasonal shift. Each leaf is edged with fine cilia and finished with a crisp white margin that gives the rosette a clean, refined look.
Sempervivum heuffelii come from mountainous regions of Europe and are valued for their exceptional cold hardiness and drought tolerance. They grow reliably outdoors year round and keep strong color through the seasons. Rather than spreading by runners, heuffelii plants divide at the center, slowly forming tidy clusters of new rosettes. After several years, a mature rosette may bloom and die, while its offsets continue growing and keep the plant going.
-
Full sun to partial sun
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 50%-70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
Non-toxic to dogs, cats, and horses (Pet-friendly).
