Sempervivum ciliosum borisii
-
Sempervivum ciliosum ssp. ciliosum (borisii) forms light green rosettes covered with dense, silvery webbing across the center and leaf tips. The fine hairs give the plant a soft, frosted look while still showing its fresh green base color. Its compact shape makes it ideal for rock gardens and shallow containers.
This species produces many small offsets, quickly forming tight, spreading clumps. It grows mainly in spring and summer and may send up a flower stalk when mature. Like other webbed types, it needs excellent drainage and protection from heavy rain, especially in winter. It is very cold hardy and thrives outdoors in full sun. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
