Sedum sexangulare
-
Sedum sexangulare is a fast-growing ground cover with bright green, needle-like leaves arranged in neat spirals along its stems. The plant forms low, dense mats that spread easily, making it a great choice for filling spaces between rocks or spilling over the edges of containers. Its fresh green color stays attractive through the growing season.
During summer, it produces clusters of tiny yellow flowers that create a bright carpet of color. This hardy variety grows well outdoors in sunny locations with well-draining soil. It spreads quickly by branching stems, and new plants can be easily started by cutting a short piece of stem and replanting it. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
