Scindapsus 'Moonlight'

  •  The Scindapsus Treubii 'Moonlight' (also known as 'Sterling Silver') is the ultimate "it" plant for modern collectors. Famed for its ethereal, metallic glow, this plant looks almost like it was crafted from silk or liquid silver. While it became a viral sensation in 2021, its slow-growing, elegant nature has made it a timeless staple for those who appreciate understated luxury in their indoor jungle.

Native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, specifically regions like Java, Borneo, and Malaysia, where it grows as a climbing vine.

In the wild, mature Scindapsus treubii can produce a spathe and spadix typical of the Araceae family. However, it is extremely rare for this plant to flower as a houseplant. Its "bloom" is effectively its foliage; the way the silver sheen catches the light acts as the plant's primary visual attraction.

  • Bright, indirect light. Low light will cause it to lose its silver luster, but direct sun will scorch the thick leaves. A spot near a north or east window is ideal.

Low to Moderate. Allow the soil to dry out almost completely (top 50-75%) before watering. The leaves will curl slightly when it is thirsty.

Well-draining, chunky mix. It is prone to root rot, so use a mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark.

    18°C – 29°C (65°F – 85°F). It is a tropical plant and dislikes cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C.

This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.

Toxic. Contains calcium oxalate crystals. Keep away from pets and curious children as it can cause oral irritation if chewed.

  • Zones 10-12. Primarily grown as a high-end indoor specimen.
