Philodendron 'White Knight'
-
The Philodendron 'White Knight' is a rare, hybridized cultivar of Philodendron, known scientifically as Philodendron erubescens 'White Knight'. As a cultivar, its heritage traces back to the tropical regions of South America (like Brazil) where its parent species, P. erubescens, is native.
The most striking aspect is its deep green, heart-shaped leaves dramatically splashed with irregular patches of pure white and cream-colored variegation. The stems (petioles) often display a handsome burgundy/reddish-purple color, adding a beautiful contrast.
-
Bright, indirect light is essential to maintain the vibrant white variegation and promote healthy growth. Direct afternoon sun can easily scorch the delicate white patches. It can tolerate medium light, but the variegation may fade or the plant may become leggy.
Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch. Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy. Water less frequently in winter when growth slows.
Use a Well-Draining, Airy Aroid Mix to prevent root rot.
It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C).
