Philodendron 'Moonlight'

  • The Philodendron 'Moonlight' is a popular, hybrid cultivar of the Philodendron genus. It is a non-climbing, self-heading plant, meaning it grows vertically in a dense, upright, bushy clump rather than requiring a support structure (like a moss pole) to climb.

The most special and unique aspect of the Philodendron 'Moonlight' is its dramatic color change as the leaves mature. The newest leaves emerge a brilliant, almost electric neon green or chartreuse-yellow. This is the source of its "Moonlight" name, as the color glows beautifully in bright light. As the leaves harden and age, the color deepens into a more typical, glossy medium-green.

  • Bright, indirect light is key to achieving the most vibrant, bright-yellow new growth. The plant can tolerate medium, indirect light, but the leaves will become a deeper green.

Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry. Water thoroughly when the top layer of soil is dry. Ensure excess water drains completely.

    Rich, well-draining, and aerated soil.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C).

  • USDA Zone 10-12

    USDA Zone 9b: to -3.8 °C (25 °F)

    USDA Zone 10a: to -1.1 °C (30 °F)

    USDA Zone 10b: to 1.7 °C (35 °F)
