Philodendron ‘Little Hope'
-
The Philodendron 'Little Hope' is a cheerful, compact cultivar of the Lacy Tree Philodendron (Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum, often still classified as Philodendron bipinnatifidum or P. selloum). It is a self-heading plant, meaning the leaves grow outward from the center, often forming a thick, short 'trunk' over time.
The most striking characteristic is its immensely tropical foliage. The large, shield-shaped leaves are deeply indented and split, creating a layered, ruffled, and exotic look. It is also noted as an effective air purifier, filtering toxins like xylene and toluene.
-
Thrives in medium to bright, filtered sunlight. Avoid direct, intense sun, which can scorch the leaves. Can tolerate medium light but growth will be slower.
Water thoroughly when the top 50-75% (or top 2-3 inches) of the soil is dry to the touch. It is sensitive to overwatering; do not let it sit in soggy soil.
Use a rich, well-draining potting mix, high in organic matter.
