Peperomia 'Angulata'

  •  Commonly known as the Beetle Peperomia or Funky Frog, the Peperomia angulata is a charming, low-maintenance indoor plant that brings a geometric, architectural feel to your greenery collection. With its trailing vines and uniquely patterned foliage, it is a favorite for hanging baskets and tabletop displays alike.

Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, where it grows as an understory plant in humid conditions.

The true "specialty" of this plant is the striated leaf pattern. Each dark green leaf is marked with light green longitudinal stripes, mimicking the hard shell of a beetle. Unlike traditional flowers, the Peperomia 'Angulata' produces "rat-tail" inflorescences. These are long, slender, greenish-white spikes that rise above the foliage. While they aren't colorful like a rose, they add a quirky, prehistoric texture to the plant's appearance.

  • Medium to bright indirect light. It can tolerate lower light but the leaf patterns may fade. Avoid direct sun.

The "Soak and Dry" method. Water only when the top 50-75% of the soil is dry. The thick leaves store water, making it drought-tolerant.

Well-draining and chunky. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and a bit of orchid bark is ideal to prevent root rot.
18°C – 24°C (65°F – 75°F). Keep away from cold drafts or air conditioning vents.

This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.

Non-toxic! Safe for cats, dogs, and curious toddlers.

  • Zones 10–12. Typically grown as a year-round indoor houseplant in most climates.
