Pachyphytum Hookeri

  • Pachyphytum hookeri is a striking rosette succulent with thick, silver-blue leaves that stand upright and taper to soft points. The foliage is coated with a powdery layer of natural wax, giving the plant a soft, frosted look while helping protect it in strong sunlight. The chunky leaves and cool pastel tones give this plant a sculptural appearance that stands out in succulent collections.
As the plant matures, it grows short stems that may bend and trail over time, though it can easily be kept compact with occasional pruning. It may produce a bloom stalk with small flowers during the growing season. This variety grows best in bright light with very well-draining soil and infrequent watering. It can also produce offsets at the base and is easy to propagate from stem cuttings or mature leaves.

  • Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.

Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
