Nettle 'Silver Sparkle'
-
The Nettle ‘Silver Sparkle’ (often botanically classified as Pilea libanensis or Pilea glauca) is a dainty, enchanting groundcover plant.
It features a dense mat of tiny, succulent-like blue-grey leaves that shimmer with a metallic silver sheen. Its delicate red stems provide a beautiful contrast, making it a favorite for hanging baskets, terrariums, or as a "spiller" in mixed containers.
The texture and movement. Unlike upright plants, 'Silver Sparkle' has a soft, moss-like appearance that cascades beautifully. It is also one of the best plants for terrariums because it thrives in high humidity and its small leaf scale creates a sense of miniature landscape.
-
Bright, indirect light. It loves light but direct afternoon sun will scorch its tiny leaves. It can tolerate medium light, but the "sparkle" is most vibrant with good brightness.
Keep the soil moist but not soggy.
Use a well-draining potting soil with plenty of organic matter. A mix of peat moss and perlite works wonders.
