Echeveria 'Summer'

  • Echeveria 'Summer' is a compact, rosette-forming succulent with smooth, pastel-toned leaves and a tidy growth habit. It belongs to the Crassulaceae family and likely originates from hybrid breeding based on sun-loving species native to Mexico. The rosettes grow low to the ground and typically reach about 4 to 6 inches across, forming a symmetrical shape with slightly pointed, upward-arching leaves. Depending on the light exposure, the foliage may range from blue-green to soft pink, with a light powdery coating (farina) that gives it a muted, silvery finish.

This variety responds well to full sun or very bright indirect light. Exposure to direct morning sun encourages more compact growth and brings out its subtle color variations, while too little light can lead to stretching and loss of form. During the warmer months, mature plants may produce tall, slender stalks bearing small, bell-shaped flowers in pink or orange tones. The flowers add a seasonal accent, but the plant is typically grown for its foliage.

With its soft coloring and small size, Echeveria 'Summer' works well in containers, succulent bowls, or paired with darker or more textured varieties for contrast. It remains easy to care for when grown in well-draining soil, watered properly, and kept in a spot with consistent light. The rosettes stay neat over time and may slowly produce offsets, forming small clumps when left undisturbed.

  • Thrives in bright direct or very bright indirect light. Full sun helps maintain its shape and color, while too little light can cause stretching and fading.

Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry, avoiding water buildup at the base of the rosette. Reduce watering in the cooler months.

Prefers low to moderate indoor humidity. Good air circulation helps prevent fungal problems and rot.

Best growth occurs between 65–80°F . Protect from temperatures below 40°F, as frost can damage the plant.

Needs a fast-draining, gritty succulent mix, ideally with added perlite or sand. Proper drainage is essential for healthy roots.

Feed once or twice per growing season with a diluted, low-nitrogen fertilizer. Avoid overfeeding, which can affect the plant's compact form.

Echeveria 'Summer' is considered non-toxic to pets and humans. However, ingestion should still be discouraged.
