Dieffenbachia Panther

  • The Dieffenbachia 'Panther' is a striking cultivar belonging to the Dieffenbachia genus, commonly known as Dumb Cane. It is an evergreen perennial prized for its foliage. The Dieffenbachia genus is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America and the West Indies, where it thrives in the warm, humid understory of rainforests.

It features large, broad leaves of deep, lush green, heavily accented with wide, creamy-silver or white streaks and speckles, particularly down the midrib. This stark contrast gives it a captivating and exotic "panther" pattern.

Always keep the plant out of reach of children and pets. Wear gloves when pruning or handling the plant to avoid skin irritation from the sap.

  • Bright, indirect light is ideal for maintaining the bold contrast of the leaves. It can tolerate lower light, but variegation may fade, and growth will slow. Avoid harsh, direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch.

Use a fertile, well-draining potting mix.

The plant prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C - 27°C). It is sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F (15°C) can cause damage.
