Crassula ovata 'Hobbit' Jade
-
Crassula ovata ‘Hobbit’ is a unique form of the classic jade plant with curled, tube-like leaves. The leaves roll inward and form small, trumpet-shaped tips that often turn red in bright sunlight. The thick, glossy green foliage grows on sturdy, woody stems, giving the plant a small tree-like look over time. Its unusual leaf shape makes it especially eye-catching.
This plant grows slowly and can stay compact indoors, making it great for pots or bonsai-style pruning. In winter, mature plants may produce clusters of small, white, star-shaped flowers. It is very easy to propagate from stem cuttings. Small white or dark dots on the leaves are natural pores and not a sign of disease. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Low Indoor Light.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
