Crassula ovata 'Gandalf' Jade

  • Crassula ovata ‘Gandalf’ is a distinctive jade plant with long, tube-shaped green leaves that flare open at the tips like small trumpets. In bright light, the leaf tips often turn deep red, adding strong contrast and giving the plant a playful, sculptural look. As it grows, it develops thick, woody stems that create a tree-like form, similar to a small bonsai.

This plant grows slowly and can live for many years. With time, it becomes more upright and structured, making it ideal for pots or bonsai-style displays. Mature plants are easy to propagate from stem cuttings, and the small white or dark dots sometimes seen on the leaves are natural pores, not a sign of illness.

  • Bright Indoor Light, Filtered / Partial Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 50%-75% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.

Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
