Chinese Evergreen 'Silver Bay'

  • The Chinese Evergreen Silver Bay is an evergreen perennial and a popular houseplant cultivar known for its highly ornamental, variegated leaves. The Aglaonema genus is native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia and New Guinea. 'Silver Bay' is a hybrid developed in the United States.

Its large, lance-shaped leaves feature a stunning mix of soft silver and pale green that radiates from a darker green central vein and edges, creating a "painted" effect. This variegation holds up well even in lower light.

The plant occasionally produces small, inconspicuous white or greenish, Calla Lily-like flowers (spathe and spadix).

  • Low to Bright Indirect Light. It is one of the best plants for low-light situations, but the leaf's silver variegation will be most vibrant in bright, indirect light.

Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. It is somewhat drought-tolerant, but performs best with consistent moisture.

    Well-Draining Potting Mix.

It thrives in typical indoor temperatures between 65°F-80°F (18°C to 27°C).

  • USDA Zone 10-12

    USDA Zone 9b: to -3.8 °C (25 °F)
