Chick Charmlettes Rowdy Rudy
-
Chick Charmlettes Rowdy Rudy forms compact rosettes with bold red to burgundy tones, often contrasted with deeper centers and lighter highlights along the leaf edges. The strong color becomes more intense in bright sunlight, giving the plant a lively and dramatic look. Its neat, symmetrical shape makes it a striking addition to rock gardens, containers, or mixed succulent plantings.
This variety grows mainly in spring and summer and produces many small offsets, or “chicks,” on short stolons. Over time, these form a dense cluster of rosettes. It grows best outdoors in full sun with gritty, well-draining soil, where the offsets can be left to create a full mat or separated and replanted to grow new plants. -
Filtered / Partial Sun, Full Sun.
Gritty, well-draining soil is essential. Use a cactus and succulent mix with 70%-80% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite.
Water infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Avoid letting water sit in the rosette to prevent rot.
