Calathea 'Makoyana' Peacock

  • Calathea makoyana Peacock is an exotic plant with beautiful oval leaves in contrasting green and red-purple colors. Along the leaves are bold, decorative, feather-like markings that resemble a peacock's tail, hence the name! The beautiful patterns on its leaves are said to bring joy and happiness.

Originally from Brazilian rainforests, Calathea Peacock can thrive indoors with proper care. It makes a wonderful choice for a houseplant and can light up any living space. This plant is not only believed to purify the air and eliminate common toxins but also create a serene atmosphere, promoting relaxation and well-being.

Peacock plant can grow up to 2 feet in height and its stunning foliage with bold markings can grow up to 12" in length.

  • Peacock plant needs bright, indirect, or filtered light. Too little light can stunt its growth and harsh direct sunlight can burn its leaves.

This plant has medium water requirements. Aim to keep the soil relatively moist but not waterlogged.

This Peacock prayer plant prefers soils that can retain moisture but still drain well. You can mix your own soil with 2 parts peat and 1 part sand or perlite.

This plant thrives in temperatures of 60°F-75°F and a high humidity level (over 60%). Mist your plant and use a humidifier when the weather is dry.

This houseplant should be fertilized once per month during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.

    This plant is non-toxic.
