'Autumn' Fern

  • Autumn Fern (Dryopteris erythrosora) is a beautiful and versatile fern that is prized for its colorful foliage. It is a clump-forming, semi-evergreen fern with broadly triangular, arching fronds. In spring, its new fronds emerge a coppery red color, which gradually fades to a deep green as the fronds mature. In the fall, the fronds often take on a reddish tint again, providing a touch of autumnal color to the garden.

    Autumn Fern is an easy-to-grow plant with low-maintenance requirements, which makes it an ideal groundcover. It is also pest-free and disease-free.

    This is a relatively slow-growing fern, reaching a mature height of 18-24 inches and a spread of 18-24 inches. 

  •  It thrives well in full shade to partial shade.

     Water regularly, especially during hot, dry weather.
    Well-Drained, Porous potting soil.

    This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.
