Alocasia Micholitziana 'Frydek' Variegated

  • The Variegated Alocasia 'Frydek' is the highly-prized, rare form of the beloved Green Velvet Alocasia. This plant is a spontaneous color mutation (variegation) of the Alocasia micholitziana 'Frydek' cultivar. It is a tuberous, clump-forming tropical aroid.

The signature velvety, dark green, arrowhead leaves are splashed, marbled, or sectored with creamy white, light green, or pure white areas. The contrast between the dark foliage, white veining, and bright variegation is unparalleled.

  • Plenty of bright, indirect light is critical. The white, variegated areas lack chlorophyll, meaning the plant needs more light than its all-green counterpart to photosynthesize effectively and maintain its variegation. Avoid direct sun.

Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy. Allow the top 1 inch to dry out between waterings. Be precise with watering; the plant is sensitive to both underwatering (crispy edges) and overwatering (rot).

Requires an airy, rich, and extremely well-draining aroid mix.

It prefers temperatures between 68°F and 85°F (20°C to 29°C).
