Aeonium Venus

  • Aeonium 'Venus' is a premium variegated hybrid known for its luminous, pastel-toned rosettes. Its leaves feature a stunning gradient: a minty emerald green center that bleeds into creamy whites and finishes with delicate, rosy-pink margins. It is a branching variety that eventually grows into a miniature, tree-like shrub.

While the ancestral Aeoniums hail from the Canary Islands, the 'Venus' cultivar is a product of expert horticultural breeding. It was selected for its stable variegation and its ability to maintain high-contrast pink edges even with moderate light.

The 'Venus' is prized for its translucent quality. In the right light, the leaves appear to glow from within. Unlike the 'Pink Witch' which is bold and neon, 'Venus' offers a more sophisticated, soft-focus aesthetic that complements modern, minimalist home decor.

  • Bright, indirect sunlight. To keep the "Venus" glow pink, it needs plenty of light, but dappled shade is best during blistering afternoons.

Premium gritty mix. Requires fast-draining soil (cactus/succulent mix) to prevent root rot.

The "Wait and Hydrate" method. Water deeply when the soil is mostly dry. Decrease watering significantly during the summer dormancy.
  • 9b – 11. Must be protected from frost; it is best kept as a container plant in colder climates.
